I spotted this idea on pinterest and google reader a while back and saved the picture in my ideas folder. The general idea was Met, Married and Live but I decided to tweak it a little bit.
So this is the finished frame - I'm really happy how it turned out. This is how I made it.
You will need:
- 1 frame - split in 3 - we got this one from the range for like £2.70 - bargain!
- Coloured card of your choice
- Cream or white card
- Thin black pen
- Maps of the 3 places your choosing
- Glue or double sided tape
- Any added extras for decoration - buttons, stickers etc
Steps
1. The first thing I did was to create a heart template for the hearts - I did a big heart for the edging and a slightly smaller one for the maps.
2. Using your template draw round the map in the write place and cut out
4. Cut out a rectangle in white or creme card and a slightly bigger one in the coloured card.
5. Stick the rectangles together using your chosen adhesive and in the centre write the words that you have chosen - you could also add some stickers, buttons or such at this point.
6. Now time to layer it all together - back the mount in your frame with white or creme card to form a backing and stick your hearts in the centre. Put your wording just underneath leaving a slight gap.
7. Add any stickers to the mount that you should wish and you put inside the frame and you are done.
I think this is such a unique present to give someone and it wouldnt have to be just for a wedding. You could tweak this for anything - engagement present, anniversary, baby present, birthday present. As long as you could think of 3 different places you could do it for pretty much anything! And it is a cheap but lovely gift too. I think this cost me no more than £3 to make. The only thing I brought was the frame. I got the card and stickers from my craft stash and the buttons from my sewing stash and we printed the maps on the computer.
Would you like to receive one of these frames as a present? Do you like unique gifts like this?
