Halloween FOTD

Hey everyone! I mentioned last week that we had a bit of a party at Guides for Halloween and I said I was going to share my make up look with you. So as promised here we go..

I went as a cat basically because it was easy to do. Just chuck on some black, ears and a tail and job done :P
I found this make up look online here which was a cat look done by MissChevious. As you can see I played about with it a little bit putting the print under my eyes rather than above because of my fringe and i used pink on my lips instead of red. I love this make up look, it was so easy to achieve, basically just a smokey eye with a twist...
There have been some fab make up tutorials out there this year. I particularly loved Lily and Gemma's video for the party they went to at London Dungeons which was on lilypebbles channel here.

What looks at you loving for halloween 2012?

MUA constellation review

If you saw my post from last weekend you will have seen that last Saturday (not the one just gone) when I was in town I managed to pick up the MUA constellation beads in Gemini. I have seen loads about these on the internet and I am always excited to try new things so I thought I would give them a bash. I wasnt overly convinced about the wear of this so I tested them on my mum - she cant wear nail polish for work - she is a nurse - so I put them on Saturday afternoon, just on the ring finger and just on the tip like a french manicure!
I was really impressed with it and it stayed on really well, and my mum is always doing something so her nails come into contact with a lot of things. She found herself having to take most of it off on Sunday night.

Seeing how fab they had come out on my mums nails, I thought I would give them a try on my own nails, so on Saturday I sat down and decided to do it across all of my ring finger like I had seen so many other people doing online.
They looked really well when I first did them, when I first did them. However things started to go wrong pretty much straight away. When I put the top coat on about 1/2 an hour after putting them on - the colours started to run away from the beads. Thinking maybe they just needed time to settle a bit more, I removed the finger it happened on (luckily I hadnt done both fingers straight away) and started again.
When I got up yesterday morning I noticed that half of the beads on my right hand had come off!!! I mean I hadnt exactly done them and then gone straight to bed! But I just topped them up and went off to church!
As the day went on, more and more of the beads appeared to have dropped off... The ones on my right hand have dropped off terribly and started to pull the polish off and the ones on my left have lost all of their colour!!!

Left hand on the left, right hand on the right

I am SO disappointed with this product. To be honest this is probably how i thought the product was going to be! But I mean they shouldn't come off that bad! the middle part of my finger on the right is where the beads have come off a left a small silver circle behind and you can see next to it where the polish has come off.
I would be seriously disappointed if I had paid more than £3 for these! I think they maybe are more of a gimmick product you would wear for maybe one night out and then take off the next day but it is just so disappointing. I am for sure going to take these off tonight when I get in from work....

Have you tried these nail beads? Have you had similar problems with the wear of them??? Whats your opinion?

New Hair

So as I mentioned yesterday I was off to the hairdressers this morning to have my hair spruced up! I was pretty much willing to leave the colour up to my hairdresser - thats some serious trust eh! But I know that she wouldnt make me look daft and lets face it she plays with colour on a regular basis and knows what suits people. All I told her was that I wanted perhaps something a bit lighter and a bit darker just to stop it to looking so flat and depthless.

I am beyond happy with the results. It has made my hair feel SO much better! I had a little trim too just to help with my plan for lush locks. All in total it cost me £25. That was for 2 lots of coloured highlights and a cut and finish! I completely love my hairdresser. She is basically has a shop in my small village away from the main town, she is the only hairdresser at the salon and she is absolutely lovely.
I have been to Tony and Guy (where I modelled) and other big salons but I dont think you can beat a salon where you know your hairdresser and she knows what you want when you go in!

Isnt it amazing how a bit of colour can spruce up how you feel :D

Quick catch up

How on earth is it Friday already??? Not that I am complaining...

This week has been quite manic and just seems to have flown by. I think with being bust last weekend - we had a big thing at church and US in the choir sang for the bishop and I had a solo - nervous was not even the word!!!
We had a Halloween party at guides on Wednesday and I took some photos to share with you of the make up look I did but I will leave them for the week as it seems a bit early yet...
I have been picturing loads on my instagram account (@unlovedbutton) lots of lovely food I have been eating... I lost 2 and a half pounds last night which I was chuffed with.. I feel really focused at the moment and wanth to get to my 2 stone before Christmas which is 12 pounds away so fingers crossed!!!
I'm having my hair done tomorrow which I am quite excited about.. I'm growing my hair and I stopped dying it red (if you saw some of my blog posts from last year it was like a mahogany colour) but now I am bored with it and feel it looks a bit drab and plain so I have decided to have a few highlights and lowlights put in! I will make sure to share the finished result tomorrow.

Anyway toodle pip! I am hoping to sit down relax and do some blogging this weekend so stay tuned xxx

Foodie Post: Homemade Chilli and Jacket Spud

If your following me on Instragram you may have noticed that I have started posting pictures of foods recently :) Yesterday I posted a picture of a lovely chilli which we made last night! It was so lovely - healthy and was less that a tenner for 3 of us! Bargain!
We used a Coleman's mix to make the chilli, all you need to add is the chilli beans, the mince and some onion. We picked the meat and the Coleman's mix from a local butchers in town, the mince was £2.35 for a pound, the Coleman's mix was 99p. We had the Jacket Potatoes from the market which were 4 for £1. I know its convenient but I think we have lost the buying from local stores or markets. Its so convenient to buy things from the Supermarket now but I really couldn't believe how cheap the mince was! And the Jacket Potatoes were twice the size of the ones you get in the Supermarket! Plus the good thing about buying from a local butchers is you can choose just buy as much as you want! Which is great if there are just 1 or 2 of you!

I have started to kick back in to slimming world, I have been doing it for a while and have already lost a stone but have kicked back in full steam! I am really focused at the moment so you may be seeing a lot more foodie posts of things I am enjoying! I shall be posting things on my instagram too so if you see anything on there you fancy knowing how I have made then let me know and I shall do a post on it :)

Saturday Shopping Hawl - Boots

So as you know I brought some lovely new boots on Saturday when I into town but I also nipped into boots. Their lovely 3 for 2 offer is back and I couldnt resist picking up a few bits that I have had my eye on.

Philips Sonicare Toothbrush - £49.99 (reduced from £121.99)
Rimmel Eye Liner Pencils in Nude, Jungle Green and Purple - £2.99 & £3.99
Models Own Nail Polish in Snowflake (Wonderland Collection), Blizzard (Wonderland Collection) and Purple Blue (Beetle Juice Collection) - £5

My toothbrush has been due an upgrade for a while but I hadn't got round to finding one. I saw one in the Boots Christmas catalog - a Colgate one that I had my eye on and actually wanted when I went into Boots but i changed my mind when I noticed that my local boots store did not stock the heads to it. However I noticed that they had the Philips Sonicare toothbrush on an amazing offer. It was over 50% off and in my view anything which was sold at £121.99 must be pretty darn good, and I have heard fab things about it. I will do a proper review but I am loving it.
I also picked up some Rimmel pencils which were part of the 3 for 2 - I got one of the new shades - the nude one which I have been wearing on my waterline that makes my eyes look brighter, a purple one and a jungle green one. I also picked up 2 of the new wonderland collection from Models Own which are lovely (again it I will do seperate reviews) and a purple blue one from the Beetle Juice collection. Keep you eye out for that in tomorrows NOTD.

Have you taken advantage of the 3 for 2 offer back in Boots?

New Boots

I have been on the search for a new pair of boots which I could wear for everyday for a while now however my chunky legs usually leave me sad and depressed when trying to find any. I popped into New Look on Saturday with my mum and I fell in love with a pair. I wasnt hopeful as I tried them on, especially when I saw they were pull on with no zip. However no only did they go up my leg, they didnt look bad!

As I said they were from New Look and they were a total bargain at £24.99. They do them in brown too which were really nice but I dont really wear a lot of brown and went with the old cliche that black goes with everything!

I have only worn them a couple of times but I am in love already! I cant wait to wear them with some chunky autumn winter stuff or some thick coloured tights :)

Boots Christmas Loves 2012

So if you are following me on Instagram you may have seen my excitement at the weekend when my mum brought home the Boots Christmas catalogue! I dont know why but I get so excited for the Boots Christmas catalogue... its not that it makes me feel particularly christmassy (it is after all only October) but I love looking through what they are going to have...

Having a look through the catalogue there is some lovely stuff, I dont think this catalogue excites me as much as other years but there is some lovely stuff - In particularly there seem to be a lot of make up brush sets which is typical because my mum had loads of trouble finding an affordable make up brush set last year when I asked Santa for one.
So here are my top things which I am loving at first glance in this years Boots collection.

1. No 7 The Essential Accessory Case  - £35 - I have actually seen this in store and the size is deceptive online. I thought it may be big enough for holding all my makeup but is more of a Brush etc store. Comes with some accessories such as brushes.
2. 17 Lip Crayons - £10 - Set of 4 lip crayons in varying shades of pinks and nautrals
3. Soap and Glory Leap of Face - £20 - Contains  Peaches And Clean Deep Cleansing Milk, For Daily Youth 6-In-1 Moisture Lotion, Mighty Mouth Extreme Hydrating and Super Glossy Lip Balm - plus buffing mitt and headband. I love soap and glory products so this one is definitely on my Santa list.
4. Baylis and Harding Gingerbread Indulgence Box- £8 - Contains a Chocolate Chip Shower Crème, Sweet Gingerbread Body Wash, Vanilla Body Lotion. This caught my eye because of the Gingerbread body wash. They do lots of little sets with this in all under around £12. Some are as little as £4 and would be a lovely little present or stocking filler.
5. Mark Hill Girls night in a bag - £22.00 - I had some Mark Hill a few years ago in one of the smaller sets for Christmas and liked it. This set contains Defrizz-ilicious Slick Chick De-Frizz Shampoo, Defrizz-ilicious Smoothly Does It De-Frizz Conditioner, Colour Hydration Bomb Intensive Treatment and Get Gorgeous No Knots! Detangling Spray as well as a comb and clips.
6. Soap and Glory the best of all - £60 - If you have been following my blog from the start you will know how much I love this box. It contains lots of soap and glory favorites including the Hand Food, Sugar Scrub, Thick and Fast Mascara and the Sexy mother pucker lip gloss. It is usually on the offer of the week the week before christmas and I am always on the boots website at the crack of dawn on the Friday as soon as it is announced putting my order in. In 2010 i think the box was £20 and in 2011 it was £25 (i think) you save massively on the retail price. I have for the last 2 years brought 3 (me and mum got them between us) and stocked up on our favorite products for the year!
7. No 7 Vanity Case - £45 - Lovely case containing some No7 makeup including 6 x Eye Shadows in various shades, Limited Edition Lip Gloss, Bronzing Duo, Mini Black Intense Volume Mascara nand some cosmetics brushes. I am eying this up for storing my make up in but the price is a little off putting (am hoping this will appear on offer of the week too)

So those are my favorites from Boots. Obviously there is lots of break downs, Things for Men etc and between now and Christmas I am going to do a breakdown of my favorite things for different people. Also stay tuned for my favorites from other top stores - including Superdrugs :)

New Handbag

I thought I would share with you the latest addition to my handbag collection. I was getting a bit bored of the bag I was using and it felt a little small (for all the crap I like to carry round in my handbag) so I fancied a change and a new bag. I have had my eyes open for weeks to see if I could get a new bag but hadnt found anything I really liked. I wondered if I was being too fussy. I needed it to fit my Samsung Galaxy Tablet in as I take this to work to read on. I love satchel style bags and like ones that have long straps. Surely this can not be so hard.

And then on a girly trip to town I found itttttttttttt...

Isnt it pretty! This bag is called the Faux Snake Trim Satchel and is available in store and online here at Topshop for £34.
I am so in love with this bag. It fits everything in which I want including my mac which rolls up. I will do another Whats in my bag post at some point because I haven't done one for probably 12 months. So keep your peepers peeled for that!

Accessorise - Lovely Day Pallette

So I may be a little bit behind the band wagon on this one but I tried and tried to get this palette and only a managed to get hold of it about 6 or 8 weeks ago.

I can not even tell you how much I love this palette... it has all the colours in which I will love and use and is a great every day palette!

I really love all of the colours in this.. there are a couple of colours when I first saw I was a bit meh about but when I tired them in a look they worked well. My particular favorites are the 3 green ones in the dead centre. I am always a bit skeptical about wearing green because I have really green eyes but it really looked lovely.

The accessorize palette retails for £8.99 and is available from Accessorize and Superdrugs.

Do you love the accessorize palettes? Which is your favorite?

Girl Guides Big Gig 2012

I cant remember if I have mentioned this before but I am currently training  to be a guide leader. I absolutely love it. I get to spend my Wednesday nights with 23 absolutely nutty and wonderful teenage girls.
Yesterday me, one of the other leaders, 19 of our guides and 3 buses of guides from our district took the 2 hour trip over to Sheffield for the Annual Girl Guides Big Gig. Basically the big gig is like a pop concert which they host and pop stars come along and perform! I was quite excited to go as they gradually revealed the line up would include JLS, Scouting for Girls, Amelia Lily, Cover Drive, Little Mix, Loveable Rogues and Conor Maynard.

Now excuse the crappy photos.. I didnt take my camera so I just took pictures on my phone :P

It is of course customary to where everything that flashes including flashing bunny ears, a flashing spiky ball around my neck and glow sticks :P

 JLS

The girls decided to make a giant circle from glow sticks :P

Little Mix

Scouting for Girls

It was an absolutely fantastic day. I havent really been to any proper concerts before so it was ace to go to this, I cant wait for next year now :D

Foodie Post: Homemade Apple Crumble

Now I absolutely LOVE apple crumble... I mean love. Its definitely my favorite pudding and if its on offer when we go out then its my top choice. Now as you know I also love baking so every now and again I like to treat myself and my family and make one at home. Mum and Dad have been on holiday for 2 weeks and I wanted to cook a nice tea when they got back on Friday I wanted to cook something yummy. So I thought I would make an apple crumble for after a pie I made (I will do another blog post). Apple Crumble is SO easy to make an so cheap!!!

You will need:
For the crumble
  • 300g plain flour
  • 175g sugar
  • 200g unsalted butter

For the filling
  • 450g apples
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  1. Put your flour and sugar into a bowl and mix it in.
  2. Add butter (cubed) into bowl and rub it together - you can used your fingers to do is but I usually use a fork. The consistency which you are looking for is like bread crumbs.
  3. Put topping to one side
  4. Cut apples up into cubes. You can put it straight into the pie and bake but when I do it I usually cook the apples first in a sauce pan. Put them in a sauce pan and add sugar until the apples are soft.
  5. Add the apple filling to a large bowl and add the topping on the top.
  6. Put into the oven on Gas Mark 4
  7. Cook for around 40 minutes or until top is golden brown.
  8. Serve with custard or cream
Yummy :)

Obviously you can do this with other fruit too.. But you cant beat a hearty apple crumble - especially on those cold autumn winter nights!
