A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time to give my hair a little pick me up. I had coloured my hair just after Christmas with a reddy colour however I really wasn’t in love it with it at all, plus pregnancy hormones are rife meaning the greys hairs that have slowly poked through over the last year or so have been going mad! So time for a spruce up!
I’ve used the John Frieda foam colour before but it seems every time I dye my hair I forget just how good this baby is! It retails for £9.99 in Boots, Superdrug’s etc however when I picked it up Boots had it at £5 off meaning it was just £4.99.
I decided to go for the colour 5N - medium brown which is pretty close to my natural hair colour which is what I wanted.
The first thing I love about this product is as it says on the box it is non drip! There really is nothing worse than those colours that end up everywhere!
This is unique in the fact that instead of coming out in a thick formula like standard dyes, it is as the name would suggest a foam. Instead of shaking the colour bottle until it’s mixed you just tip up and down 5 times to let the foam develop then squeeze the bottle and the foam appears.
I have very thick hair (not a pregnancy thing) and I always worry that there won’t be enough dye in one bottle to cover it all however with this one I felt there was more than enough meaning I could make sure my hair was totally covered.
It was so easy to wash out (and didn’t take ages like some seem to) and my hair honestly felt amazing afterwards. It did not feel damaged by the colour at all!
I seriously need to make myself a mental note not to stray from this brand of dye again. It’s perfect if you want to shake up your hair colour, especially if you want to do it yourself at home. And it comes in 20 different shades so there are plenty of options to chose from!
32 weeks! How on earth did that happen? My pregnancy has honestly flown by! I can’t believe in just 5 weeks time, she will technically be considered full term!!!
I am definitely starting to relate to being in the third trimester now and feeling those exhausted feelings everyone talks about.
In the last week I’ve been experiencing really bad cramps in my legs during the night which have then made my legs ache all day like I’ve ran a marathon! Thank goodness for the roll on deep freeze gel I’ve been using! I love this! It’s basically like a deodorant roll on which means you don’t have to get your hands all icky will gel - bonus in my eyes!
As we edged closer to the 32 week mark this week baby had definitely done some shuffling about in there.
Earlier in the week, I spent a couple of hours on the maternity assessment unit as I hadn’t felt her move very much on Sunday evening and Monday morning.. only for her to start having a party the moment they put a monitor on her to check she was ok! She was not a fan of that at all! She kept trying to kick it off!
On Wednesday evening I experienced some sharp pains (a quick google as I thought I was having Braxton Hicks) however I think she has completely changed positions. My bump has also dropped a little and definitely changed shape! I’m not sure if she has moved towards being slightly engaged. I have another scan a week on Monday so I’m sure they will let us know what she is up to!
She is becoming more and more active which is lovely as you can see her moving on the outside of my bump too :) she’s better than watching the TV some nights.
Everything is getting organised in the nursery. We picked up a gorgeous second hand nursing chair on Gum Tree which I am so happy with and was a total bargain! It’s really completed the nursery. I’ve also packed both mine and babies hospital bags and been sorting clothes into organised piles and getting everything popped away!
Only 5 weeks left at work now, I’m very much looking forward to finishing now and have already been plotting with one of my work besties who just had a baby in January what we are going to get up to! I’m looking forward once baby has arrived to finding some lovely mummy and baby classes we can go to :)
You may remember if you read my goals for 2018 post back in January that one of the things I wanted to focus on this year was a better skincare routine.
I’ve had these nip and fab cleansing pads in my stash for a while and figured I would crack them open and give them a try. Even though my bedroom is right next to my bathroom I’m normally lazy as I say when it comes to cleansing my skin properly so these are a great alternative. I’ve been tending to use them more in the evening as I do tend to use the Clinique mild face wash in the morning and if I’m feeling completely on it then I use my Clinique face brush too!
I’m officially on the countdown to 30 now after celebrating my 29th birthday a couple of weeks ago so I figured it’s about time to get my shiz in order!
I’ve really been making a very conscious effort to be better when it comes to a skincare routine as I was determined to have it cracked by the time baby arrives.. there have been odd fails along the way but I’m slowly getting better! I’ve been making sure I remove my make up properly instead of micellar water and cotton wool. The problem is I get lazy! I’ve done better on that front but I’m yet to crack the twice a day cleansing routine.
Here’s some of the products I have been using though...

The toner is one I had seen pop up on my Instagram feed and then spotted in my local boots (which I was shocked about as I thought it was just online). Your good skin has lots of trusty celeb followers and lovers and is a great affordable brand! I picked this up after my Clinique 3 step toner started reaching the bottom and I’ve been really enjoying it so far!
For a bit of moisture I’ve been using the No7 protect and perfect intense creams that I picked up in the set I got as the star gift just before Christmas. I since found out No7 do a range more suitable for my age range (The early defence range suitable for up to 35) however I’ve been enjoying this never the less. Pregnancy has made my skin quite dry so the extra moisture in these has been helping and a little bit goes a long way. The protect and perfect range is designed for 30-45 years anyway so really I’m not too far behind.. I can get a bit ahead of the game.
A couple of times a week I go on with the keihls midnight oil which I picked up on the plane when we went to Orlando a couple of years ago and because I don’t use it much it is lasting ages. I tend to do this after I’ve done a face mask (my favourite at the mo is in my January favourites post) which I’ve been doing at least once a week as a pamper pick me up.
And at the moment that is it! I really want to explore my skin a bit more and learn about what proper routine I should follow to look after it so any tips I find I will be sure to share!
I’m going to do this post again in a few months.. maybe after baby is due to update you on what I am enjoying and how it’s all going!
First of all.. I just want to start by saying that this post is not sponsored by Musclefood.. I am writing it because I have a whole heap of love for this company (and ya know.. being Valentines Day and all lets share the love)
I have always been a massive fan of buying meat in bulk. We used to do a monthly visit to a local butcher in our area who does massive discount packs at a good price however when the quality started to dip, I lost interest and we went back to buying with the weekly shop at the supermarket. Now you know me, I am a savvy little sole who loves to get the best offer I can. Adam and I eat a lot of meat, particularly things like chicken, steak, beef (minced, diced etc) and buying from the supermarket was knocking our food bill up by quite a bit!
I discovered Musclefood via Instagram. I follow quite a lot of people on there who do Slimming world and being a slimming worlder myself, I was intrigued. However I will be honest I wasn't sure how I felt about having a chilled parcel delivered to my house (it sounds daft now).
At the tail end of last year after seeing a really good deal online for Black Friday, I decided to bite the bullet and order one of the hampers.
The Black Friday Parcel I ordered was fantastic! It contained all of the above products and I paid the extra pound to get some more added onto it as an additional bonus.
What I loved about it, was that I could choose my delivery day and date which meant I could schedule for the delivery to come on a week day when I knew Adam would be at home meaning he would be there to sort the parcel out when it arrived.
Delivery was amazing. I got constant emails leading up to my parcel being delivered and then a text on the morning from Dpd, the delivery company that muscle food use for their deliveries, to give me an hour time slot when it would be arriving.
When it arrived, the meat was all packaged into perfect wrappers labelling what was in each one, except the chicken, which comes in a large container, perfect for us as we just separated into freezer bags (I personally love the ikea ones) into portions of 2 and then Adam chucked everything into the freezer meaning all we needed to do was pull something out each morning. Excuse the lack of lovely delivery parcel here.. both times that the parcel has come, Adam has done it and whipped it away into the freezer before he took a picture! Men eh!
There are SO many amazing options available on the website too. So far I have been drawn in by fantastic monthly offers they have had on (last months order was a £45 hamper which you could then double and get the same again for an extra £5! - no brainer really)
Their options also include build your own hampers where you can choose from different meats depending on your taste or you don't have to have a hamper at all and can just order different meats! There is SO much choice from traditional meats like chicken, beef and lamb, to sea food and even more exotic meats like Ostrich, Kangaroo and Venison.
They also do other fantastic products such as egg whites, protein deserts as well as stocking one of my favourite cheeses, the Eat Lean Protein Cheese which you can have 70g of on slimming world (hello cheesy goodness).
There has not been a product we have tried yet that we haven't enjoyed. Some of my favourite things we have had in the hampers we have ordered have been the Sweet chilli chicken burgers, the beef satay stir fry and the Dragon Steaks!
Musclefood is defiantly going to be a regular order in our house from now on! I will defiantly not be going back to buying supermarket meat! If you haven't checked them out, seriously head yourself over to their website and order yourself something! You honesty will not regret it!!

So on Thursday last week, I turned 29 and I thought I would share with you what I was lucky enough to receive for my birthday. I really struggled this year when asked what I wanted this year.. luckily my lovely family know me very well :)
From Adam I had this gorgeous Cath Kidston backpack from their Micky Mouse collection. I have loved this range since it was launched and eyed up quite a few of the different things on offer however never picked anything up. I'd seen the backpack a couple of times and have been toying with the idea swapping a handbag to a backpack before baby is born... 1 because it spreads the weight of stuff carrying and 2 because once she is born it will let mean I aren't jugging with a handbag and a changing bag. Plus when she becomes a toddler we can just add a change clothes without taking up lots of space. I love that this has 2 handy pockets at the side (handy for holding an umbrella and a water bottle) and a zip at the front where I have popped all things beauty such as lipsticks. There is also a handy pocket at the back too which is good for holding small things. On the inside there is a handy slot which holds a laptop as well as the main compartment.
From my mum and dad, I got lots of little crafty bits because what craft nut doesn't love some hobby craft goodies :) I also had some very practical presents from them. Me and mum had a girly day in town on Wednesday last week to do a bit of pre birthday shopping and we picked up some bits perfect for my hospital bag including some new PJs, a Nighty and a thinner dressing gown.
The night dress is from peacocks and is available here for £8. The idea was that I could wear this during labour. I love that it says I make my own magic on it as with the unicorns I thought this was really cute! What I also didn't realise is that Peacocks have started doing some plus sizes. I picked this up in a size 26-28 which is way too big for me (I am normally an 18-20) however I wanted something with lots of room in it, plus it gives me room for baby growing over the next 10 weeks.
Another thing we picked up was some new PJs from Marks and Spencer. I love their nightwear and these little beauties were £12.50 - available here. Again I will be packing these in my hospital bag just in case we need to stay overnight or so I have something comfy to change into after baby is born.
I had lots of other lovely presents including some lush goodies from my brother in law and his fiancé, some money from my Nanna and a voucher for afternoon tea at my favourite place in town to use as a pre baby treat for me and Adam on one of our days off together before little miss arrives which will be lovely :)
I had a lovely birthday - Adam and I went out for a meal in the evening with my mum and dad which we really nice.
My 29th year is set to be an exciting one and I have been thinking about everything I want to achieve over the next 12 months before I turn 30... I may do a whole separate blog post on this one :)

I had plans when I found out that I was expecting to restart blogging straight away and document this amazing journey! However that didn’t happen and before we know it here we are at 30 weeks (tomorrow)... if it makes you feel any better the lovely notebook I brought to write in weekly updates is also sitting on my bedside table having not been touched for weeks.
We decided pretty quickly after finding out, that we wanted to find out what we were having, I really wasn’t bothered about finding out but Adam really wanted to know so we decided to book a private scan. There is a place on our street which does it that I’d heard fantastic reviews about so we booked a scan for there. We also loved the fact you could take as many people as you wanted with you and planned a lovely trip with my mum and dad, Nanna, Adams mum and dad and grandma however everything didn’t work to plan when the equipment broke a couple of days before meaning we couldn’t go on the Saturday we had planned, meaning we had to go on the Friday night instead. Thanks to technology we can were able to WhatsApp video Adams mum and dad meaning they could still be part of the experience and we all found out together that we were expecting a little girl.
We really didn’t mind what the gender was however I was pretty convinced that it was a girl right from the start!
The time from 20-30 weeks has gone pretty darn quickly (after hearing how slowly this bit can go). I think the advantage we had in between was we had Christmas and New Year in the middle of this so it provided something else to focus the time on.
I can’t quite believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone! I was nervous that when we found out we were expecting that it was going to seriously drag! I can’t believe there are potentially only 10 weeks left!!!
From the minute I found out I was pregnant I started suffering with morning sickness but it wasn’t until I was about 8 or 9 weeks that I was actually sick.. it then became a daily occurrence most days up until about 17/18 weeks.
We went for our first scan on Friday 13th October, not an unlucky day for us at all! It was perfect and seeing that flickering heartbeat for the first time. It’s such a special moment when you have to wait weeks and weeks after seeing those 2 blue lines, or the word pregnant on a test.. you almost begin to down it may be true until you see that flicker and small little person on the screen! We loved our 12 week scan as it was SO clear!!!

We went for our 20 week scan (where they pretty much confirmed it was a girl) and we got to see our little princess in SO much detail! I spent a lot of the week before worrying about the scan, often named the abnormality scan, however it was absolutely fine and as I say.. we saw everything in such perfect detail, including the 4 chambers of her heart which was amazing!

As we have moved towards 30 weeks I’ve had the occasional bout of sickness again. I haven’t had any massively weird and wonderful cravings and I haven’t put a massive amount of weight on (I’ve continued to do slimming world and have put a grand total of around 5 pounds on in total over my pregnancy).
Sleeping hasn’t caused too many issues so far apart from occasional heart burn and a pain in my hip/top of my leg which I was having before pregnancy but has got worse since falling pregnant, it basically means my whole leg goes numb! Fun!!
Little lady is a huge wriggler and over the past few weeks has become SO active to the point where you can see my whole belly move! It’s honestly better than watching the TV sometimes!
The countdown is well and truly on now. I’ve dropped down to 4 days at work to use the rest of my annual leave up (meaning a cheeky mid week lie in) and I’ve got 7 weeks left to do before I finish for maternity leave! Not that I’m counting at all!
I can’t wait for the next 10 weeks to go and for her to be here now! It’s all so exciting especially as everything comes together!
Little late to the ol' band wagon - but heck, its still only the first week in February! January seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye? Weren't we just dancing round to the chimes of Big Ben like 5 minutes ago??
January has been a funny month, your still in the come down from Christmas, the sales are EVERYWHERE and your longing for the spring to hurry it’s ass up and make an apperence (seriously I am SO done with winter now)
Anyway.. less yapping! Here’s a lil round up of some things I have been loving over the month of January...
No 7 star gift set
JD seasonings
I had been looking at JD seasonings for ages after lots of love over on instagram amongst the slimming world peeps on there. I was given a voucher code by my slimming world consultant so bit the bullet and ordered some. I’ve got a whole separate review coming on these beauties pretty soon so keep your eyes peeled but would deffo recommend them!
Mask powder and Activator - Forever Living
By far one of my favourite face masks of all time! I feel in love with this range of products when I became a business owner back in 2015.
What I love about this mask is that you mix as you need it so it doesn’t end up all mushy in the pot like some masks. As the box says it’s literally a powder which you mix with an activator which makes the most amazing tightening face mask! Think not being able to move your face! And it makes your skin so soft!
This retails for £29.08 (for both the mask and activator) and can be shopped here and depending on how much you use you can get between 20 and 30 masks from it.

Muscle Food
Another company we have been ordering from and loving and again another whole separate review is coming on this one! But I’ve been really enjoying the meat we have ordered!
Rimmel Fresher Skin Foundation
And there you have it.. those are my favourites for January- were only 7 days into February and I’ve already got some firm contenders for my February favourites!
