You may have seen a lot of mention about Asda - if you watch videos by bloggers such as SprinkleofGlitter (aka Louise) , Zoella and Pointlessblog (aka Alfie) you may have seen them talking about Asda's halloween offerings in their latest videos about the dailymix halloween party.
I went off to Asda a couple of weeks ago when I found out we were having a halloween fancy dress party at the girl guides where I am a leader. I had a look online and spotted that they had some good and cheap fancy dress costumes on their website so when we hot footed off to do the weekly shop I had a little mooch in their Halloween aisle.
I was pleasantly surprised by Asda's offerings this year! You tend to find that there are never a lot of halloween costumes for adults at a reasonable price anywhere on the high street, usually some hats or head accessories but you never really see a lot of fancy dress costumes for adults but Asda certainly came up trumps this year!
My local Asda had a good selection of costumes this year! I was seriously spoilt for choice of which one to choose but in the end this is the one I went for.

Costume - £10 - Asda
Witches Hat headband - £3 - Asda
Cardi - Evans (about 5 years ago - think it was around £3 or £5)
I cant believe that this costume was only £10! It does come with a witches hat with the costume but I thought this headband was so cute I decided to get this too! Asda have some fantastic costumes - a lot ranging between £10 - £16 and if they are anything like this one then defiantly worth buying!
The others I was trying to decide between were this Skeleton one (which Zoella wore in her vlog). I also was pleased to see that Asda are doing some awesome other fancy dress costumes too aka non halloween ones. My uncle is 50 next year and is having a fancy dress party so I will be sure to check out their range of costumes again when it comes to choosing an outfit for that occasion.
Have you tried Asdas fancy dress offerings this year??? Any favourites???
Just a quick one this week as not really a lot to report but I just thought I would say Hey!!! As I mentioned last week, we are currently in the process of having our living room decorated - the fire place is now done but despite the fact the decorator told us it would only take Thursday and Friday to do the room, it appears it must have been a bigger job than he though - anyway so we are still at the moment without wallpaper and he is hoping that it should all be done by Tuesday (I am prayyyying it will).
I have managed to dig my laptop out from under the stuff which is currently piled up in the dining room and thought i would schedule a few posts for you all for this week as I have lots of lovely bits to share with you!
I have discovered that our new living room fire place is perfect for taking pictures on so expect to see that appearing in lots of the pictures which as promised I did for you all :)
I have also been thinking about a new little series in the leading up to christmas which lets face it isnt too far away. Keep your eyes peeled for that as I am going to be sorting that out and probably posting the first post on that in the next couple of weeks (probably next week - I will at least wait until November haha)
I havent really been up to a lot this week what with all the hecticness going on. One thing I did do was make a cake for my lovely friend Jean at church who is 82 this week so we had a bit of a celebration at church this morning.
I really loved how this cake turned out. Jean is one of my fellow choir members hence the musical notes and piano. Jean is a very special lady and I absolutely love her to pieces! She is honestly a truly awesome lady.
That has pretty much been my week. I did go shopping yesterday and pick up a few cheeky pay day purchases which I will share with you over the next couple of weeks one they have had a proper test! Toodles for now xxx

Just wanted to bob on and say a quick hey so you all know I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth. Things are a bit hectic at home at the minute, we are having some work done, decorating, new fireplace etc so things are a bit all over the place. I'm not sure how much blogging I am going to be able to get done this because the router for the internet is in the living room which is where is being decorated so I'm not sure how much ill be able to get done.
Since there is going to be so much going on, I think I maybe spending some time in my room this week away from the dust and paint smells (both of which effect my allergies) so I am hoping the ever growing pile of things which are waiting to get photographed for review may at least get photographed, which let's face it is half the battle.
This week has been pretty busy, I just don't know where the week has gone. Sunday night seems to come around far too fast if you ask me!
Not a lot to really share with you this week because I haven't really been up to much. I went to give blood again today and I also registered while I was there to become a bone marrow donor.
Also in the process of moving things around and tiding, we sorted some of the clothes we had at the bottom of our stair place where there is some storage, we had to move some stuff so we could put a new shoe rack my mum had brought to put shoes *cough... My shoes... Cough* on. Anyway while moving the stuff I came across my prom dress. I knew it was there but I haven't looked at it for so long because I knew it didn't fit. Out of interest I thought I would try it on since I am now only about half a stone heavier than I was when I last wore it! I wasn't expecting it to fit and I certainly didn't expect it to do up but it did :) I honestly at one point in my life never thought I would see a day where I would get back in that dress so I am so glad that I now can - not that I have an occasion to wear it but ya know it's just the principle!
And so you can nosey here is a picture of the last time I wore my prom dress - 17th December 2004
I hope you will all stick with me! I will be back! I am going to be trying lots of new recipes from the new slimming world magazine this week and I promise I will be back as soon as the decorating is done!
xxx
I forgot if this is pay 5 or 6... I seem to keep forgetting to do them every week like I promised!
Anyway I did promise when I started this I would share the good with the bad! This week I gained 1 pound which I was gutted about because I've had a good week this week. I'm not going to dwell on it thiugh, part of me does wonder if it is my weekend In Birmingham catching up with me but I am on a mission this week! I want to get my 3 and a half stone next week which is a 2 and a half pounds away!
I had to giggle earlier, there are a few of us doing slimming world at work and one of the other girls weighs in on a Thursday the same as me. We always message each other and tell us how we have done. Tonight I told her how I had done and that I was gutted and she quoted gogglebox to me! We had been having a conversation about gogglebox on Facebook last night and I messaged her one of the people said "I've been on a diet for 37 years, mind you think how fat I would be if I hadn't!" This is what Jackie comment tonight to me! Yeah the woman on gogglebox was making a joke but some weeks I think it is worth sitting back, riding the storm and thinking not only how far you have come but where you may be, in my case had I not found and stuck with slimming world.
Fingers crossed for this week please!!
Hey Guys!!!
You may have noticed I took a bit of an unexpected blogging break this week. It was totally unintentional but I have had such a hectic week. I have been off work this week so I have been off enjoying myself so I thought I would take a break and just enjoy my week.
So last weekend me and my bestie went off to Birmingham for a much needed girly weekend! This of course involved lots and lots of shopping and a bit of the old vino :)
Wembley was lit up with all manner of flashing and light up glow sticks and head bands!

Me and my bestie (who is also called Laura) on the right ready for a night out and on the right having a much needed Starbucks on the Sunday morning.
I picked up quite a bit while I was there, including quite a few of the bits on the wishlist I posted here. I am going to do a post while some of the things I picked up which may include a cheeky purchase from Mac.
On Wednesday I got back on to the train, this time with mum and headed up north to Manchester!
Here we are at the train station :)
I had booked me and mum tickets to see Wicked which is currently in Manchester on the first leg of its UK tour. I have seen the show in the west end on more than 1 occasion but mum has never seen before and I really wanted her to see it!
We did a spot of shopping prior to the show, I didnt pick up a lot, just a new filofax from Paperchase which I will probably do a post on how I organise it etc. I am also going to do a proper review of Wicked but it was absolutely AMAZING!!!!
Thursday I went to Slimming World and lost 3 and a half pounds which I was OVER the MOON about!!! This now takes me up to 3 stone 5 and a half!
Yesterday I hotfooted down the motorway on a coach with 16 of our own excited guides as well as 2 other coaches full of guides from our district and off to Wembley Arena we went!
Here is me at the crack of dawn yesterday morning with a couple of the other leaders and one of the older guides waiting for the coach to arrive.
Basically for those of you out there who not all up on girl guide info, every year twice a year there is a girl guide only concert organised for the guides across the UK. This is my second time going to the Big Gig - you may remember I went to Sheffield last year and did this post here
There were some good people on again this year, Little Mix were on again this year which I enjoyed because they certainly know how to get the arena rocking. We also saw Union J, Katy B, Dionne Bromfield, Charlie Owen, 5 Angels, Overload, Conor Maynard and Jahmane Douglas (who initially I wasnt that excited about seeing because I didnt like him on X Factor but I have to say I really changed my opinion of him yesterday!!!
Overall I have had an awesome week off! I has been nice to have a week to just relax, I dont feel like I have had a week off work for aggggggess (the last time I was off was for Florida and that wasnt exactly a relaxing holiday!)
Although a hectic week I have definiately enjoyed it and have had some fab days! :)
It seems at the moment that quite a lot of the ladies that I work with are doing slimming world. I absolutely love it because it means we can bat different ideas off each other and share tips and recipes.
A couple of weeks ago we were eating lunch when one of the ladies joined us. Her lunch looked and smelt amazing so instantly we were all questioning her about what it was! She shared the recipe with me so I thought I would pass it on to all of you!

Sausage and Bean Lasagne:
You will need:
- Tin of baked beans
- Tin of tomates (or we used passata)
- Pack of sausages (we used the Sainsburys be good to yourself ones which are low syn) - Veggies could either use Quorn or omit this
- Spices - Garlic, Paprika
- Onions
- Any veg you want (we used peppers and baby frozen veg from Sainsburys)
- Pasta Sheets
- Cheese
Fry the onions and the veg
Cut the sausages into chunks or balls and fry up
Add the tomatoes and beans
While you are frying everything up - cook the pasta sheets
When everything is cooked, layer it up with a layer of your sausage and beanny mix then a layer of pasta sheets. Layer until the top then put in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes. Once it is nearly done top with your healthy extra of cheese (obviously if you are splitting between 3/4 of you then you can add enough for all of you) Cook for another 5 minutes until the cheese is golden.
Serve up with lots of yummy veg.
I am SO excited to be going off for a girlie weekend with my bestie to Birmingham this weekend!!! It is going to be a complete weekend of shoppingness and girly chatting! And of course in my head I have a little list of things I really want to pick up!
These are just a few things I picked off my head - obviously I may or may not get these exact things or but you know...
I am sooooo desperate for some new jumpers as all my ones from last year are miles too big! These ones are from H&M and are £7.99 which I think is an awesome price. I am thinking a lot of layering with some of my sleeveless summer shirts.
I have included the Forever 21 and Selfridge logos because we have neither here in Stoke. I loved Forever 21 when I was in the states and I am interested to see how the one here measures up! I also love walking round big department stores such as selfridges and am looking forward to the beauty hall mostly! Tied in with this you will see 2 mac products peeking in here. I really want to try out some mac eyeshadows and really fancy building myself a palette - maybe just a 2 or 4 one as again we dont have a mac in Stoke and I like to swatch colours when buying eyeshadows. I also fancy trying a mac lipstick. I really love my Bourjois one Rouge edition one but it is almost gone. I would quite like a look at how the mac lipsticks measure up and what colours they do.
Peeking on the right you will see a pair of patterned tights. I am loving tights at the moment as the more I have lost weight I have got a bit more body confident to get my legs out a bit and I love patterned tights for the autumn!
I spotted both the Cath Kidston and the Zara office city bag mini online. I lusted after the Office city bag for a while and was going to buy it but then decided against it. However I LOVE this mini version. I also love the Cath Kidston Everyday bag which is part of their Anniversary collection. I am interested to have a look at both of these and am sure one of them will be coming home with me!
And lastly I am really lusting over a pair of ankle boots. I love these ones from H&M which are (I think £25 or £30) - I really want some ankle boots that are not too high so I can wear them for work but also look great with skirts as well as trousers and dresses.
I am looking forward to going to some of the shops which we dont have here. In fact there are quite a few shops we dont have! I love H&M and really wish there was a local one but I am looking forward to a good mooch in there as both me and my friend have a love of H&M so I can see us spending plenty of time wandering around there.
I wil be doing a haul of what I buy from Brum when I get back so keep your eyes for that :)

Clinique bottom lash mascara has been around for quite a while but as you may have guessed from a lot of the products I have been reviewing recently, they are things I brought a while back and have been giving a really good review before sharing them with you.
I picked up the Clinique Bottom lash mascara a few months ago. It was either just before or just after I went away - I cant exactly remember when.
I had been lusting over it for a while and had actually even had it in my hands a couple of times before putting it back and deciding not to go for it. I had read online that it was a really good mascara particularly the size of the brush which is sooooo tiny! It really is the perfect size for getting in to those small lashes. I sometimes find a normal mascara brush overwhelms and if your not careful can end up with mascara all around your eyes!
I cant tell you how much I love this mascara. I have never been one to wear a lot of mascara especially on my bottom lashes, I like to go for a more natural look so I love the look that this mascara gives. I also love the fact that it doesnt smudge all day. I have always been a bit of a monkey for rubbing my eyes, less so now I wear contacts but I do suffer with a lot of allergies which often means I end up with watery eyes and sometimes a normal mascara can end up leaving me with mid day panda eyes but once put on this mascara does not budge!
This mascara retails for £11 which does seem quite expensive for a mascara that you only use on your bottom lashes but in my opinion it is well worth every penny. Obviously you dont need as much to just coat your bottom lashes so it lasts a lot longer that a regular mascara, plus I have seen what a lot of people online are doing is once the mascara is dried up or used, they are keeping the brush and using it with their normal mascara as it really is the size of the brush which makes this mascara for me.
