Hair removal.... It's one of those beauty things we all do but hardly any of us beauty bloggers talk about it. I want to talk about one specific area of removing hair - eye brows....
Over the years I have tried many different methods of eye brow hair removal... Plucking, waxing, threading... I have tried them all.
I always find plucking a chore, it doesn't last 5 minutes and I seem to be needing to do it practically every couple of days.
Waxing my eye brows I actually favour over waxing my legs. It last longer than plucking and gets rid of lots of hairs in one go! A winner in my eyes.
Now to the other favoured method, threading. I actually tried threading a few years back, when I was at uni. I really loved the results it offered but at the time I was really struggling with my hyfever and allergies and I left the beauty chair (one of these middle of the shopping centre jobs) with mascara all around my face because it had really made my sensitive eye area irritated. At the time this was the only local place I knew that did threading, it was relatively new and I was rather embarrassed because rather than my eyes watering I think the lady thought I was crying. Threading has continued it's popularity and a lot more places have started to offer it. I heard good things about a smaller independent stall which had opened in one of the small shopping areas. For £5 I figured I would give it a go again. My allergies are much better controlled and my eye brows were desperate!
Excuse the rather cheesy photo but I am SO happy with the results. My eye brows look the best they have ever looked! I considered going to a local salon who did HD brows but I just could justify the price. I am so glad I didn't bother now. I will defiantly be going back to have them threaded again. The pain is quite a strange one. It hurts more than waxing but it offers closer results and is cheaper! The lady had them done by was fantastic and she offers a loyalty card scheme where you get your 10th thread free :)
What's your favourite method of removal???
The lovely people at money supermarket sure know how to run a good competition and this one is no exception! They are offering one lucky blogger the chance to win £1,000 to put towards crossing off something on their bucket list, and four more runners up will win £50! If that wasn't already generous enough, if they get over 50 entries, the grand prize will be doubled to £2,000!
To enter, you just have to write a blog post describing one budget bucket list item, and one extravagant one; so here is my entry!
Budget bucket list:
Im pretty sure it is every girls dream to looks good in a little black dress. I have struggled with my weight most of my life and have always been the "big one" out of my friends. My bucket list was written a good few years ago and I knew beating my weight battle would feature on it but father than putting it on as just lose weight I decided to tie the little black dress into it. I want to find the perfect little black dress that all girls wish for but not only that I want to be happy with it. If I won £50 I would treat myself to a LBD in a size I would like to be at the end of my journey. Not only would it be a treat to go out in when I hit my target but it would focus myself on my journey to getting there. I'm 2 and a half stone lighter so far and am on a total mission! I particularly love this one and this one.
Extravagant bucket list:
I'm sure a lot of people have some kinds of travel plan on their bucket list and I'm afraid I am going to be really unoriginal and say the same. There are so many different travel plans on my bucket list but if i won £1000 I would pack a backpack, book an interrail train multi ticket and cover all the Europe based items on my list... Here is what I would tick off
- go on the Eurostar
- travel first class
- go to the top of the Eiffel Tower
-see the Mona Lisa in the louvre
- see the leaning tower of Pisa
- throw a coin in the trevi fountain
- visit St. Peter's square
- see the remains of the Berlin Wall
- see the acropolis
Also I have a couple of random things on my list I would tick off along the way. I really want to make proper pasta and what better place to learn than in the home of pasta, Italy!
Forget just ticking off one thing! Why not use it to make the most of a fantastic opportunity and tick off lots of things! One of my friends went travelling recently and I have loved looking at their pictures on Instagram of all the amazing places they have seen.
I have been doing soooo well with not buying any make up bits but when I went into town there were a couple of things I wanted/needed to pick up.
Tony and Guy Salt Spray 75ml - £2.19
L'Oreal Ever Sleek Shampoo - £5.99 - Boots - Currently £3.99
Turbie Hair Towel - £1 - Wilkinsons
MUA Brozer (Shade 2) - £1 - Superdrugs
Maybeline Concealer - £6.19 - Boots
Maybeline Chromatics Eyeliner in Teal - £4.49 - Boots
Maybeline Chromatics Eyeliner in Purple - £4.49 - Superdrug
Maybeline 24 hour colour tattoo in Pink Gold - £4.99 - Boots
Umberto Gianni Silky Curls Smoothing Balm - Boots
Umberto Gianni 3 day frizz free spray - Boots
Umberto Gianni 2 for £8 at Boots
Maybeline currently 3 for 2 in Boots
I was desperate for a new concealer and when I went into Boots I spotted the Maybeline stuff on 3 for 2. I had seen the new Maybeliene Chromatics eye liners and I was particularly in love with the Teal one - I have a collection one which I love but is nearly running out. I decided to pick up the 3 for 2 and the Teal eyeliner and Maybeline's 24 hour concealer fell into my basket. I also decided to pick up (another) one of the 24 hour colour tattoos in Pink Gold. I love these and have been wearing these quite a lot especially in the hot weather as they stay put. I have been lusting after this colour for a few weeks. I also picked up the Purple eyeliner too as I loved the colour of it. I picked this up from Superdrugs as they didnt have it in Boots.
A couple of the other things I picked up are just standard things I needed. I spotted the shampoo on offer and thought I would give it a worth. The hot weather had been making my hair particularly frizzy atm so i picked up the one for Frizzy Hair.
The little salt spray I picked up from Boots is for my gym bag. I took this on holiday and really like it so I figured I would pick another one up to use on my hair post shower at the gym.
I will keep you updated on how I am loving the products. I wore the teal eyeliner yesterday and I can say I am already loving it. I can definitely see this is going to be a staple in my make up bag.
Have you tried any of these new products? What are you loving?
I know this is a late one from me tonight but i wanted to come on and let you know how i have done this week at slimming world! I have tried so hard this week after a couple of week where i have been good but disappointed and i was determined to turn it around. When i weighed in last week i knew i needed 4 pounds for my 2 and a half stone... Now i know if i have a fab week i can lose that so i really set my mind to it!!!
Not only did i achieve my goal of losing 4 this week and getting my 2 and a half stone, i also got slimmer of the week and slimmer of the month for losing 9 pounds in July :)
I have proved to myself, no matter what set backs i am faced with i can achieve what i set my mind to!!!
As you know I am currently following slimming world. I have mentioned before that I am by no means new at it, I have been doing slimming world for years. The last few months I have been so focused... I finally achieved my 2 stone award which after all the time I have been going, I have never achieved, in fact I always saw it as somewhat of a brick wall that no matter how hard I tried I could not get over!
The last few weeks I have had some really good weeks, the first week I lost 4 pounds then I stayed the same and the last 2 weeks I lost half a pound each week. When you have been so good, it's gutting the stay the same. The first week I was so gutted to stay the same. Then when I lost half last week, and the week before, and sitting in group, something clicked with me. At the time there was one of the young girls, a similar age to me talking about going with her friends. She was talking about how hard she finds it when she goes out with her friends because they all drink when they go out. Now I have never been one to go out drinking on the town but it made me think not just about drinking but being a young person in general. When I think about the stereotype of young "obese" generation of today it makes me think... There are so many people my age and younger who don't even think about keeping fit, healthy eating or things like that, a lot of it is fast food and take aways.
I may not be at the place I want to be, or happy but at least I am doing something about it. I think I would rather be losing half a pound a week than gaining pounds. I am really focused on being healthy and making changes to my life that will help my future. I am going to take each day and week as it comes and stop being so hard on myself.

In my family we like to do daft little things. We sit around when the Eurovision Song Contest is on piece of paper in hand marking what we think and our own scores. So when the royal baby news first broke wayyyy back at the end of 2012 we all had tiny envelopes and made our royal guesses with sex, dates, weights etc.
When I was going away to Florida, I didnt take a lot of make up products with me. In fact scratch that - this was I think the only item I took with me. I usually just go o-naturel when I am on holiday so I didnt bother taking a lot of make up with me. I usually tan quite quickly so I didnt think it would be a problem. I did however want to take a mascara with me just to give my eyes a bit of definition. I didnt want to spent a lot on one but I knew I wanted it to be waterproof.
Queue NYC Showtime Mascara.
Queue NYC Showtime Mascara.
Excuse the typical hotel sheets and the terrible photo!
I had heard great things about the NYC Showtime mascara but I had never tried it. When I spotted the waterproof version in Superdrugs at just £1.99 it instantly ended up in my basket! I was excited to try it but decided to leave it till I got there, a proper holiday test.
I well and truly tested this mascara, I wore it every single day of the holiday. I have to say I wasnt overly thrilled with it. I found the wand to be uneasy to use. I dont even know what it was but I just felt that you couldnt get a good wiggle on it. I also found that the mascara didnt actually give me a lot of volume or curl which I dont suppose you can expect from a cheap mascara. Like I say though I had heard amazing things about the Showtime mascara. One thing I will say is that the waterproof side of it was very good. I went swimming and everything in this and it didnt move an inch. There is nothing worse than panda eyes in the water is there and this certainly didnt cause any.
Overall I wasnt impressed at all with this mascara, I know it was only a cheapy but even still I expect some kind of productness from it. The only thing it really did was hold its waterproofness. Definitely wont be buying this again.
Have you tried this mascara? What are your favourite waterproof mascaras?
You cant beat a bit of glitter on your nails but more recently i havent been wearing it. I fancied a change and wanted to do something different and I spyed a look like this over on pinterest (it is pinned on by nail art board if you want a look - here) - I am slowly becoming addicted to pinterest and as soon as I saw these I knew I wanted to give it a try. I had done something similar ageeeeees ago but with colour on my nails and thought i would try with a french mani look.
Here I am sporting Rimmel - Your majesty and Models own Juicy Jules. I start by putting the Rimmel shade which is a silver on the end like a normal french manicure. Then when this is dry i layer the glitter over the top in layers. Adding the silver first gives the end of the nails that slightly more opaque look so you dont need as much glitter to build the look up!
I really like this look. I am going to give it a try with some of the coloured glitters I have in my collection. I will be sure to share when I do.
Do you love this look? Whats your favourite colour combo?

I said wayyyyy back in January when I made my goals for this year that weight loss and fitness were one of my goals for 2013. I am really focussed in terms of weight loss at the moment, I am really embracing Slimming World and everything it has to offer. I said on the same post that I would think about joining the gym when I got back from my holiday and sure enough, I looked into the prices etc and yesterday we went for a look around.
The gym which I decided I wanted to join is quite a new gym.. well sort of. It has always been a gym / swimming baths which we have used for years but over the past 12-18 months they have had a new building built next door with all new equipment and all posh etc.

I hadnt been into the new building but people had told me it was lovely and a good facility inside. As I say me and mum went for a look around yesterday. I have to say I was SO impressed. The swimming pool is a 25m pool with at least 2 lanes blocked off at all for people who want to swim which I thought was fab! The gym itself was lovely and really open. It has lots of different equipment and there is plenty of the machines so i dont think you would be fighting for them! Also I loved their little technology gadget which you get when you join. Its like a little key that you use for all the machines in the gym, when you go swimming and a lot of other things apparently and it helps you to track your progress! O love this idea, particularly as I want to build up and get fitter as I lose weight. They also have a great range of classes avaliable and a climbing wall which I will defiantly be having a go of.
Anyway tonight me and mum are going back to take our filled in paperwork we picked up yesterday and are officially going to join (we couldnt do it there and then as we wanted the corporate membership as you get NHS offer but we didnt have our ID badges).
As a little treat I had already decided I was going to treat myself to a new bag to take to the gym with me. I have had my eye on this for ages and on the way home yesterday I picked this up.
Photo: Argos
I picked this up from Argos for £14.99 - it should have been £19.99 but it currently has 25% off.
I was mooching online earlier and I accidentally may have also ordered myself some new trainers!
I really like Sketchers and when I saw these sketcher running shoes on the Sports Direct website for £20.00 with £54.99 off - I couldnt not have them! I am excited for them to arrive now (is that sad)
I cant wait to get cracking in the gym. I will keep you updated on my fitness goals etc :D
So I have mentioned quite a bit on here that I am currently doing slimming world. When I started this blog, including things about slimming world wasnt something which I envisaged doing although at the time, I dont think I really knew what I wanted.
At the moment Slimming World is quite a big part of my life. Now I am by know means a new member to slimming world as you know. I have been doing it on and off for years know, Ive lost a stone, slowly gained it back, given up, started again.
I seem to be *fingers crossed* on a roll at the moment and finally broke through what has always been a barrier for me, getting my 2 stone!
On instagram the other day, people were posting transformation posts during throw back thursday and I though I would join in. It isnt until you actually look back and see a photo of yourself now against an old photo you can really grasp how far you have come and i was quite shocked!
The photo on the left is me now, this photo as you may recognise was last weekend when I went to the Prom party. The photo on the right is New Year last year. I couldnt believe the difference when I saw it. It doesnt look massive but I can certainly see a difference.
Obviously losing just over 2 stone, i have obviously dropped a dress size (2 in some things) which thrills me. I think the best thing about losing weight is not just about the number on the scales but as someone who loves fashion, I love when I can get into smaller clothes. I know that my journey is far from over with Slimming World, but i know that I can only benefit from losing the excess weight, toning and getting fitter. However seeing photos like this only spurs me on more!

Today 2 wonderful ladies in my life are both celebrating their birthdays; my lovely Nanna (above on the right with me) and my amazing mum (above on the left with me) so it only seemed right to share a lovely post with them for their birthday - not that even of them will see this!
I have always considered myself quite lucky. I have a wonderful relationship with my mum, I am not ashamed to say that she is my best friend. I know that I can talk to her about absolutely anything and we have such a close relationship. Quite often on a saturday we can be found doing lunch and having a girlie shop in town. I love having such a close relationship with my mum and I am also very blessed that not only do I have this relationship with her but she has the same relationship with her mum (my lovely nanna) which in turn means I have a really close relationship with my nanna too! I cant imagine not being close to both of them and I feel very blessed to have the relationship i do with them!

I only hope one day I can be as good a mum and nanna to my own little girl and share the same relationship with her but for now i cherish every moment with these 2 wonderful ladies in my life :) Happy Birthday ladies :)
I tend to try not to do FOTD posts because I can never seem to get the photo good enough.. its a work in progress but I am working on it :) So this times FOTD is no different, I took the photo while waiting for my friend to come and pick me up but you will get the idea :)
So heres the products that I used
No7 Mineral foundation, Benefit porefessional, Benefit fake up concealer, Topshop cream stick blush in Acting Up, No 7 Bronzer, Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study, Hustle (from Naked palette) on Crease, Benefit They are real mascara (top lashes), Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara and Rimmel Acropalips in Big Bang.
I am also wearing false lashes which I picked up from Claires a couple of weeks ago, basically because they were on 3 for 2 in the sale with the Tiara I wanted for the Prom Party I went to! I will do a separate review as I really like them!!!
I am going to try working on taking some decent pictures for FOTD and hope it will get me doing some different looks instead of rocking the same looks every day.
There is absolutely nothing worse than coming back from 2 weeks on holiday and your hair feeling basically like absolute crap! All that sun and chlorine just does nothing for your locks at all. Queue Charles Worthington takeaways sunshine line.
I purchased these products in Boots before going away. I cant remember how much they were and for the life of me I can not find then on the boots website but i know they were around £2.
Ive used Charles Worthington products in the past and liked them so I was hopeful for these. Here I have the UV protection shampoo, After shot intensive mask conditioner and UV spray.
I used these products every day while I was away using the Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower in the morning and then before using my tangle tease before styling, I spritzed on the UV spray. When I got back to the UK and washed my hair at home (there is just something about washing and styling your hair in your own house that is different!) I could instantly tell the difference in my hair. My hair looked in really good conditioner and didnt look post holiday bedragled. Everyone was even commenting on how much longer and healthier it looked. I really do think that these products made a difference - I did also give my hair a break from heat while away - it was just too warm to straighten my hair so I tended to stick with the natural curliness. I dont know if it was the products alone or the break from styling products that did it good but the combination of the 2 certainly did it good.
Have you tried these products from this range?? What did you think? Were you a fan?
Now first of all, I haven't been asked to write this post and I am not writing it because I have been to give blood a million times since I was 18 because I haven't.
Last weekend I went to give blood at one of the local pop up places which appears every couple of months. There are loads of different places that appear around the area I live in but I find one in particular better because it is on a Sunday and easy enough for me to walk to from home should I need to.
I first gave blood back in February of this year. It was something which I had wanted to do for a very long time - in fact I wanted to do it since I was old enough to at 18 but I just never got around to it. Plus it is only the last 12 - 18 months they have started to offer a Sunday at the particular place I wanted to go to. I went along in February after filling in the form and everything online and was able to give blood for the first time, however because of the crappy veins I have inherited (thanks mum, granddad) - they didn't get a full donation because they had to use a side vein in my arm. I was however determined not to give up and when I got the invitation just after I got back from Florida for Sunday 30th I was determined to go again and give it another go.
I went along and hoped and hoped. I had been drinking lots of water all week because I know that can have an effect on how good your veins are or not. I cant tell you how happy I was when it all went smoothly and I was able to give a full donation without any fuss!
Giving blood is one of those weird things, I have known I have always wanted to be a blood donor. Blood is one of things I often think we all take for granted. We wouldn't think twice about expecting to receive blood should we need it if we ever went in for surgery but that blood has to come from somewhere. I haven't personally ever been in the sort of situation where I needed to have any blood given to me but about 15 years ago at the young age of 42 my dad had to have surgery on his heart, quite complicated surgery which involved some complications where he was bleeding and if they hadn't had blood available during the surgery... well... I knew there and then how important giving blood would be. Like I say we would all expect a surgeon to automatically use it if needed (dependant on religious beliefs of course) but we wouldn't think twice about it.
I am quite happy to donate what I would say is a small amount of something which - lets face it, my body is going to replace anyway - to help someone else. Who knows what the blood I donate could do? In fact I love the feeling that I am helping someone else, someone I don't even know or will never even meet but just another person, I have been thinking about other kinds of donation. There is something called component donation which you can do as often as every 2 weeks. Although there is only 24 donation places around the UK there is one local to me. I think when I get a car this is something I will defiantly be thinking about. There is also bone marrow donation which is something I haven't really taken much time to look at but I am always exploring ways that little me in my little bubble can help out. I'm not one to go all religious on you but God put us all on this earth and he gave us the tools to help each other out. If I can do something as little as donating something like blood, plasma or even bone marrow then why not?
Do you donate blood? If you would like to know more about donating blood head over to www.blood.co.uk to register and find your local donation centre.

I cant even believe that it is the first week in July and officially over half way through the year! When did that happen! June was a bit of a strange month because we spent exactly half of the month in the country and half of the month out of it and my favourites pretty much reflect that. So here they are :)
Charles Worthington Takeaway Sunshine
I love these and have blogged about my love for these this week. I really loved these while I was on holiday and are defiantly worth checking out if your jetting off into the sun.
No7 Facial Recovery Aftersun - £8.50 (or £3.50 if you have skincare £5 off voucher)
I have a review of this coming up next week but again this is something I loved while I was away. This is great if life me your face is sensitive and you don't want to use regular aftersun on your face.
No 7 Mineral Power Foundation - £13.50 (or £10.50 if you have a voucher)
I brought this mineral foundation when I came back from Florida because I wanted to have some kind of coverage on my skin because my skin isn't good enough to wear nothing - but i didn't want to wear a full foundation because I was still rocking my holiday tan. I have been using this since I got back and loving it. I think this is defiantly going to be my go to foundation for the summer. Good flawless coverage with no heaviness.
Moroccan Oil - £12.50
This was again another hair care savour while I was away. I love this anyway so this was a definite for taking away with me. It just makes my hair lovely and soft without overloading it with too much oil. I pick this up from my hair dressers but there are plenty of different types of Argon or moroccan oils on the market.
Tangle Teezer - £10.99
Now that I have this brush I would not be without it. In fact the above one isnt even the one I currently have. I had to repurchase after the purple glitter one I got went walk about and I just couldn't cope without it.
OPI nail envy - £18.65
I picked this up at the start of May when I went to visit my friend. It was a train station purchase while I was waiting at Manchester for my train. I had my eye on this for a while after all the beauty bloggers and youtubers raved about it but the price tag put me off. My nails were feeling a little soft when i got this but now they are rock solid and growing lovely and fast again.
What are you loving for June? Are you bringing out all the summer loves?
When I got an invite for a family friend who was having a rock/prom party to celebrate a host of celebrations this year which had happened - a 50th Birthday, an 18th birthday and a 16th birthday all in the space of a few months - I knew I was going straight down the prom theme. I did briefly look at the rock side but who doesn't want the excuse to don a pretty dress and heels?
In the last few years, I have accumulated some lovely dresses what with one for my 18th, 2 lots of graduation and various weddings and parties I had a few to choose from. However yesterday when on the morning of the party I finally decided to sort out what I was going to wear I was shocked to find that 3 or 4 of my dresses were wayyyyyyy to big! Including one I brought at christmas I have only had on once! Heres what I went with...
What do you think about customising your clothes? Have you ever adding in a bit of detail to make something jazzed up a little??

Dress - New Look - £12 in the sale around Christmas
Tiara - Claires Accessories - £2.50 in the sale
Bracelets - Peacocks - £4
Necklace - Primark - *I think* around £3
I brought this dress back at christmas and I have only worn it once. When I brought it the piece of lace you can see across the chest wasn't included - it was something I added in (or rather my Nanna sewed in for me) and I think really adds something to just a plain LBD. I teamed it with my old faithful glittery heals which I love and are perfect for dancing the night away! I stole the below photo from when I wore them a few months ago but just so you can see them!
Now I know its not just me who gets sucked into buying things when I go into Boots. Things I am defiantly sure I need and will use but still have a perfectly good equivalent at home! Its like some kind of addiction! Ever since I started reading blogs and eventually got into blogging myself, I cant go into Boots without checking out the new goodies they have on offer or the latest offerings from my favourite brands but truth be told, I dont really need anything!
Anyway me and mum were going to head off to IMATs this year, however as it fell the weekend I came back from Florida, we didnt end up going. We have however decided that we are going to go next year and so I have decided to start putting a little bit aside each month to pay for the trip.
However one thing I have thought about is using up some of the products I have in my stash. Assuming that IMATs is the same weekend it was this year - it should be just under 12 months away. And so my vow is to try and attempt to use a lot of the products that I have in my stash before I go out and purchase something the same but in a different brand! My make up bag is overflowing - i mean do I really need to be using 2 or 3 mascaras at once. The trouble I find with myself is I will be drawn into buying a new product when I am in town, then when I get home I want to try it so it goes in my make up bag, meaning that the other products i have that are the same stop getting used!
I know for a fact that I will not need to buy any mascara for the next 12 months at least, I brought 4 back from Orlando with me and I also have a couple of the Revlon one i love in my stash, a benefit one i got free when I brought an eyeliner (full sized) and a couple of small travel they are real ones that have either come in gift sets or I have had free in magazines!
So for the next 12 months I shall be buying only essentials, I'll be shopping my stash more than actually shopping and trying my best to save as many pennies as I can for IMATs next year! :)
