So I promised I would share with you my finished christmas cake when it was done.
And something amazing happened! One of the other leaders at guides saw my cake and asked me to make her a cake for her father in laws 75th birthday! I have been wanting to start doing cakes for people for a while. I have made and decorated quite a few but this will be the first one ive done as a request and been paid for :)
When i went into town on sunday with mum and dad i nipped into lush to see if i could get something which i had seen in the newspaper/newsletter i had picked up from manchester.on saturday.
The product i was looking for was called Snake Oil scalp treatment which claims to help with dry, flaky skin or dandruff. Now I have always suffered quite bad with dandruff and have used head and shoulders for years - until my hair dresser told me that it contains plasticy something which actually makes it worse so I stopped using it! She told me to use a natural shampoo and i tryed a few different ones but then spotted the snake oil in the lush mag.
So i thought i would give it a go. However when i popped it into a bag the woman did not put any sort pf instructions on it of how to use it. So using my own mind i thought it was like their shampoo range which would lather up when i washed my hair!
How wrong i was. I tryed washing my hair with it and it was really hard. When i was done i nearly snapped my brush in half because my hair was so knotted! I ended up back in the bathroom using a different shampoo and a conditioner to get my hair soft again!
Moral of the story if there is no label on how to use it - google the product. Ive since found out up warm it in your hands and rub it through dry hair before washing off!
Ill keep you updated on what i think of thw product when i use it in the right way! :P
So yesterday I made a start at a christmas cake I said I would make for wednesday night. The guide group at which I am a leader in training is holding a christmas fundraiser and I said I would make a chistmas cake which we could raffle of as part of the raffle prizes since I have made and decorated quite a few cakes before.
I have never made a christmas cake on my own before - I help my nanna with hers every year but have never done one myself! I make sponges or cupcakes all the time but cooking a cake for 4 hours made me a bit nervous! I am so happy with how it came out!
Heres a photo of the cake so far - it had just come out the oven here. I have put marzipan on it today and am going to ice it tomorrow and finish decorating it! Ill make sure i share the finished product with you :)
Me and mum went to Manchester today on a bus trip which was organised by the hospital where mum works. We have been on quite few of these trips from birmingham to york to london!
So we went to Manchester today which was lovely. The christmas market was on and there were little wooden stalls everywhere, complete with giant santa on top of the town hall!
So I decided to treat myself to a couple of treats from lush :P
I had read about the magic wand on someones blog a few weeks ago ( I know Bicky at Tastes like Glitter has blogged about it too recently)
At around £5 the only thing I was wondering was how many bath iy would last for - having spoken to one of the lovely ladies at Lush in the Arndale Centre who told me her own had lasted 10 baths so far and was still going so I thought I would give it a go so in my basket that went!
I have also been looking for a really good facial scrub / expholiator as my face has been feeling really crap recently and my usual facial scrub hasnt been doing it for me! So i thought while in lush I would look for something natural which may have a good natural scrub in it. After trying a couple on the back of my hand, I went with Brazened Honey which claims to have ingredients that freshen skin, antiseptic qualities and honey to make skin soft! It also doubled as a face pack! At £5.50 for a 75g tub i thought it was maybe a little pricey but my skin is feeling that crap thought its worth a try!
The moment I got in the bath was running, my hair was up and I was waving a wand through the bath, wacking face pack on my face! The bathroom dmelt lovely and I was impressed with the wand! I shall keep you updated on how many baths it holds out for!
I am in LOVE with the face pack. Once out of the bath I splashed my face with water and gave it a scrub and then washed it away!
I have to say my face feels absolutely amazing after just one use! Its recommended to use 2/3 times a week for 3 weeks and they need to be kept in the fridge due to the ingredients! I cant get over how much better my face feels after one use!
Topped off with my fave Nivea Moisturisor and the amazing Soap and Glory Righteous Body body and I feel completely pampered!
I am currently playing with my lovely shiney new samsung galaxy s2 which arrived today! I rather love it although I can see I have some bad iphone habits that may take a while to get rid of!
So I just wanted to basically test out the blogger app I just downloaded!
As my new phone has an 8mp camera blog photos should become both better and more frequent.
So for now toodles xx
So heres what I am using today
Foundation: No.7 Essentially Natural Mineral Foundation - Light Beige 220
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Warm Beige 006
Blusher/Bronzer: No7. Sunkissed Mosaic Bronzing Powder
Eyes:
Shadow: No17. Metallic eye pencil in Silver
Liner: Loreal Paris Super Liner in Silver Black
Mascara: No7. Lash Adapt Mascara in Black
As you can probably tell I quite love No7. - I particularly love the Bronzer I use. I like to use this rather than a blusher because I tend to find pinky blushers give me a funny colour with having an Olivey complexion.
I am also in love with the new No7. Lash adapt Mascara! It's ace! It allows you to build your volume up by putting up to 5 coats on! Its great especially if your going out in the day and then want to top your mascara to go out at night!
A couple of weeks ago me and my friend went to London for the weekend which was AMAZING. I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. This would mark the 3rd time we have been to London in the past year (we have made good use of our rail cards) but every other time we have been we have just been for the day and my friend had a voucher for a free night in a premier inn.
We planned on doing the Monopoly Walk (where you visit each of the streets on the monopoly board) and had booked tickets to go and see Les Miserables on the Saturday night. We also planned to go on the London Eye as we have got Merlin Passes which meant we could go on for free :) So heres a few photos from that weekend.
