Rimmel Eye Shadow Bargains

I intended on posting this a few weeks ago when I came across these but I forgot and then rummaging through my make up bag I came across them again so I thought I would share my bargain with you – because everyone loves a bargain don’t they!

A few weeks ago me and my friend had a girly day in town and went into the new poundland  that has just opened that day for a mooch. Now some people may turn their nose up and going into a shop where everything is a pound but really what is the point in paying more for something if you can get in there for a pound! And its not like some of the “pound” shops you go in where they just have tat. They genuinely have brands and stuff too which I love.

So we went in for a mooch and was having a look at the makeup/beauty section. One of the other local pound shops had started to do Rimmel stuff – lipstick etc but I had never seen anything I liked or would use. However in the new pound land I came across these beauties! AND they were 3 colours for a pound! I got myself one and mum one in colours I knew she would use (she likes browns for work) but she gave me the yellow from her set.

Now the first thing I thought when I saw  these was that you were getting 2 colours in one – the colour on the outside and the colour of the crown but as you can see where I have used the bottom 2 colours this is not the case – the crown colours are in fact just a thin layer of shadow over the rest of other colour. Still even so – lush colours.
Here’s a swatch.

I am actually surprised at how nice the yellow one is. I thought it would be very yellow but its more goldy which is good. :)

All in all a total bargain I think :D
Have you had any beauty bargains???

Barry M Purchases

As you may know I do love a bit of nail varnish. I spotted someone blogging about the Barry M Instant Effects and the Limited Edition Foil. So when me and my friend went into town yesterday I went to see if I could get them. I tried my local boots first but was actually quite shocked when I saw the Barry M display practically empty. I asked the woman on the counter if she knew if they were having it in and she said she didn’t know but told me to try Superdrugs (I love it when they do that :P)

So I went to Superdrugs and did a little squeee when I saw that not only did they have the Limited Edition one which was the one I was really after – but that if you spent £6 on Barry M cosmetics then you would get the Limited Edition Purple Foil for free. So I quickly picked up the Silver Instant Effects both me and mum had our eyes on. Then I also spotted a new purple crackle!!! I do love me some purple nail varnish and was so excited to see it in crackle form – perfect for Christmas!

So when I got home I didn’t waste anytime giving myself a little manicure with my new polish. I did every other finger in each colour and then put the crackle over the top.
Not sure how I of the 2 purples together. I think it looks nice but not as nice as the silver one does.  It would probably look ok all purple or all silver with the crackle over the top.

But I love them both on their own too – perfect for the some nice sparkly nails during the festive season! I may try the purple limited edition one with my favourite glitter – Rimmel’s Disco Ball. I’ll let you know what it looks like!

Always read the label (if there is one)

When i went into town on sunday with mum and dad i nipped into lush to see if i could get something which i had seen in the newspaper/newsletter i had picked up from manchester.on saturday.
The product i was looking for was called Snake Oil scalp treatment which claims to help with dry, flaky skin or dandruff. Now I have always suffered quite bad with dandruff and have used head and shoulders for years - until my hair dresser told me that it contains plasticy something which actually makes it worse so I stopped using it! She told me to use a natural shampoo and i tryed a few different ones but then spotted the snake oil in the lush mag.
So i thought i would give it a go. However when i popped it into a bag the woman did not put any sort pf instructions on it of how to use it. So using my own mind i thought it was like their shampoo range which would lather up when i washed my hair!
How wrong i was. I tryed washing my hair with it and it was really hard. When i was done i nearly snapped my brush in half because my hair was so knotted! I ended up back in the bathroom using a different shampoo and a conditioner to get my hair soft again!

Moral of the story if there is no label on how to use it - google the product. Ive since found out up warm it in your hands and rub it through dry hair before washing off!
Ill keep you updated on what i think of thw product when i use it in the right way! :P

Christmas Cake

So yesterday I made a start at a christmas cake I said I would make for wednesday night. The guide group at which I am a leader in training is holding a christmas fundraiser and I said I would make a chistmas cake which we could raffle of as part of the raffle prizes since I have made and decorated quite a few cakes before.
I have never made a christmas cake on my own before - I help my nanna with hers every year but have never done one myself! I make sponges or cupcakes all the time but cooking a cake for 4 hours made me a bit nervous! I am so happy with how it came out!
Heres a photo of the cake so far - it had just come out the oven here. I have put marzipan on it today and am going to ice it tomorrow and finish decorating it! Ill make sure i share the finished product with you :)

Manchester Lush Purchases :)

Me and mum went to Manchester today on a bus trip which was organised by the hospital where mum works. We have been on quite few of these trips from birmingham to york to london!
So we went to Manchester today which was lovely. The christmas market was on and there were little wooden stalls everywhere, complete with giant santa on top of the town hall!

So I decided to treat myself to a couple of treats from lush :P
I had read about the magic wand on someones blog a few weeks ago ( I know Bicky at Tastes like Glitter has blogged about it too recently)
At around £5 the only thing I was wondering was how many bath iy would last for - having spoken to one of the lovely ladies at Lush in the Arndale Centre who told me her own had lasted 10 baths so far and was still going so I thought I would give it a go so in my basket that went!
I have also been looking for a really good facial scrub / expholiator as my face has been feeling really crap recently and my usual facial scrub hasnt been doing it for me! So i thought while in lush I would look for something natural which may have a good natural scrub in it. After trying a couple on the back of my hand, I went with Brazened Honey which claims to have ingredients that freshen skin, antiseptic qualities and honey to make skin soft! It also doubled as a face pack! At £5.50 for a 75g tub i thought it was maybe a little pricey but my skin is feeling that crap thought its worth a try!

The moment I got in the bath was running, my hair was up and I was waving a wand through the bath, wacking face pack on my face! The bathroom dmelt lovely and I was impressed with the wand! I shall keep you updated on how many baths it holds out for!
I am in LOVE with the face pack. Once out of the bath I splashed my face with water and gave it a scrub and then washed it away!
I have to say my face feels absolutely amazing after just one use! Its recommended to use 2/3 times a week for 3 weeks and they need to be kept in the fridge due to the ingredients! I cant get over how much better my face feels after one use!
Topped off with my fave Nivea Moisturisor and the amazing Soap and Glory Righteous Body body and I feel completely pampered!

FOTD

Firstly excuse the cheesy photos. I was trying my best to get a good photo :P

So heres what I am using today

Foundation: No.7 Essentially Natural Mineral Foundation - Light Beige 220
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Warm Beige 006
Blusher/Bronzer: No7. Sunkissed Mosaic Bronzing Powder

Eyes:

Shadow: No17. Metallic eye pencil in Silver
Liner: Loreal Paris Super Liner in Silver Black
Mascara: No7. Lash Adapt Mascara in Black

As you can probably tell I quite love No7. - I particularly love the Bronzer I use. I like to use this rather than a blusher because I tend to find pinky blushers give me a funny colour with having an Olivey complexion.
I am also in love with the new No7. Lash adapt Mascara! It's ace! It allows you to build your volume up by putting up to 5 coats on! Its great especially if your going out in the day and then want to top your mascara to go out at night!

Bad Blogger

I have been a bad blogger and havent posted for about 2 weeks now.

A couple of weeks ago me and my friend went to London for the weekend which was AMAZING. I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. This would mark the 3rd time we have been to London in the past year (we have made good use of our rail cards) but every other time we have been we have just been for the day and my friend had a voucher for a free night in a premier inn.
We planned on doing the Monopoly Walk (where you visit each of the streets on the monopoly board) and had booked tickets to go and see Les Miserables on the Saturday night. We also planned to go on the London Eye as we have got Merlin Passes which meant we could go on for free :) So heres a few photos from that weekend.

1. On Euston Road
2. Outside Kings Cross
3. Making that all important stop at Platform 9 3/4
4. Me and Matt at the Queens Theatre
5. The stage at the Queens
6. Me and Matt on the London Eye
7. Harry Potter room in the London Film Museum
8. The Stage at the Palladium

We, as I have said had an amazing weekend. Les Miserable was fantastic and I have been wanting to see it in the West End for years. My only sadness was that Alfie Boe was off on the night (would have LOVED to see him). We didnt end up finishing the Monopoly Walk. About half way through the sunday we were walking down Regent Street and detoured to see the Palladium and saw lots of people going in (we both thought that there were no shows on sunday) and ended up with front row tickets to the show that started 10 minutes later for £15. What a bargain. The show was fantastic and although an understudy, Sophie Evans is fantastic. Michael Crawford was fab also :)

Since we got back from London I havent really done much. I have been making some decorations for the Harry Potter "Halloween" Party we are having at the Girl Guide group where I am a leader which has been really fun. I am looking forward to tomorrow night :)

Went to see Sarah Millican on Thursday with mum which was ace - she is SO funny. Also went to see Jason Manford on Saturday - Finally... we brought the tickets around 18 months ago and should have been seeing him on 14th July LAST YEAR - but then when he got the job on the One Show he changed all his tour dates. It was worth waiting for though as he was hillarious.

Anyway I shall try and keep up to date now and blog a bit more.

xx
